  Precautions for using GPS antennas

  1. GPS antennas cannot locate 100%.

  Because GPS antennas are not like mobile phone broadcasts, which can receive signals anywhere, many things will affect their reception, including satellite distribution, buildings, viaducts, radio waves, leaves, thermal insulation paper, etc. There are really too many things that affect it; generally speaking, the area of the sky that can be seen from the GPS position is the area where the GPS antenna can receive signals.

  Because the satellite status is different every day, maybe in the same place, the reception will be full in the morning, but it cannot be located at night. These situations are all possible. It is also possible that the positioning status is not good for several days in a row, so don't make a rash decision on the quality of the GPS antenna.

  2. Compare the quality of GPS antennas.

  To compare the quality of GPS antennas, you must compare them at the same time and place. Many people who buy new ones will think that the one they used before is better, but this is not necessarily correct, because the final results are very different when used at different times and places. You must use it for a long time, or at the same time and place, to feel the difference between the two GPS antennas.

  3. What are the precautions for buying GPS antennas?

  The signal strength of GPS reception is not enough to be used as a reference for purchasing GPS antennas. When buying, people only look at the signal reception table in the electronic map. In order to make the signal reception table look good, the current GPS antenna has false signals or simulated signals, etc., which causes inaccurate positioning or incorrect display.

  There is no so-called indoor positioning GPS. Basically, there is no signal indoors if there is no signal. For real indoor positioning, you have to be indoors from a cold start, but you can still locate it. This is real indoor positioning, but basically indoor positioning is meaningless because I don’t know how to navigate at home.

  When buying a GPS antenna, you don’t need to choose the brand as the purchase, but you can choose the chip used internally. From the market, there are many manufacturers of GPS antennas. Choosing a manufacturer is just to consider after-sales service. It is not necessarily that the reception of a large manufacturer is the best. Generally speaking, the GPS antennas with the same chip made by different manufacturers will not have much difference in effect. Therefore, when purchasing a GPS antenna, you can choose according to the GPS receiving chip, not the brand of the merchant or the price of the GPS antenna.

  Fourth, inaccurate positioning is not necessarily the fault of the GPS antenna. The basic positioning error of GPS antenna can be within 20 meters. There may be many reasons why GPS location is not very accurate. It may be poor reception causing errors, there may be problems with map data, or the road may be very wide, so it seems that GPS positioning is offset from the road surface. After using it for a long time, you will know whether it is a problem with GPS or map.
