Does WiFi lag due to excessive use?

Whether a WiFi network is lag-free depends on two factors: the total network bandwidth and the bandwidth occupied by the end device. For a typical personal WiFi network, the only theoretical limit on the number of users is the number of IP addresses. Generally, a WiFi network can allocate no more than 254 IP addresses, but this limit can be exceeded by modifying the subnet mask, so there's practically no limit on the number of users.

  1. The impact of WiFi's total bandwidth on lag: Generally, setting up a WiFi network refers to connecting to the internet, not a local area network. In this case, the total bandwidth of a WiFi network is determined by the minimum bandwidth. This is determined by the smaller bandwidth of the broadband access bandwidth and the wireless router bandwidth (typically, the bandwidth of a wireless router is greater than the broadband bandwidth, so the total bandwidth of the WiFi network is essentially the same as the broadband bandwidth). The lower the bandwidth, the more users there are, and the lag will increase. 2. The impact of terminal device bandwidth usage on whether the WiFi network will be stuck: Each terminal device has different Internet behavior, and the bandwidth usage is also different. Generally, watching videos requires 2M~4M bandwidth, while voice chat only requires 0.2M~0.5M bandwidth. The same 10M WiFi network bandwidth is used by 10 terminals. If all terminals are watching online videos, the network will definitely be stuck. But if they are all voice chatting, the network will not be stuck and will be very smooth.
