  Basic Analysis of Microwave Antenna Design

  A microwave antenna is an electromagnetic transmission device that is mainly used to transmit microwave radiation from a signal source to a receiver clearly and evenly. It is also called a microwave transceiver. Its working principle is based on the principle of selective transmission of signals. It can be divided into two categories: fixed and portable. Fixed antennas are designed to receive and transmit microwave radiation from a fixed central location; portable antennas are usually smaller and suitable for scenarios with limited space.

  Basic types of microwave antennas

  Microwave antennas are mainly divided into two categories: single-sided and double-sided:

  Single-sided microwave antenna: It can only transmit signals in one direction. It is usually installed inside a building and is commonly found in locations such as roofs. To maximize its directional transmission range, the top of the antenna may be placed in a cavity filled with reflective material to enhance the directionality of the signal through reflection.

  Application and characteristics of microwave antenna technology

  Microwave technology originally originated in the military field and is now widely used in civilian scenarios. In the public's perception, "microstrip" is a term that is highly associated with antennas. Microstrip patch antennas work in a similar way to traditional dipole antennas, but with stronger signals and better directionality, so they are widely used in residential areas and offices on the ground floor of buildings.

  The core advantage of microstrip patch antennas is their signal strength: microwaves, as an electromagnetic energy, can penetrate many obstacles and cover long-distance targets; traditional dipole antennas only have directional radiation capabilities and limited signal coverage. In contrast, microstrip patch antennas can provide stronger signal transmission effects.

  Connection methods for microwave communication

  Microwave communication requires connecting the antenna to the transmission source through physical waves, which are usually transmitted through cables or microwave networks. Some microwave antennas are designed for specific types of transmitters, which are called dedicated or point-to-point antennas; there are also more versatile open-band antennas that can connect multiple transmitters and channels without much modification.
